Admetos was a King of Pherae, (an ancient town in southeast Thessaly) who is saved by Apollo from his fated death when his wife Alcestis offers to die in his place. Alcestis died only to be restored to life by Hercules and return to Admetos. Admetos is strongly connected with rebirth and second chances, working through one's fears, as well as resigning oneself to fate, taking a breath and having one's soul reborn into new circumstances and having knowledge of the world beyond.
